Question 1

How does the Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel work?

Accepted Answer

During the Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel, a layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin first. The laser heats and gently “pops” the carbon particles, removing oil, debris, and dead skin from deep within the pores.

Question 2

How does the MDF Laser Toning treatment work?

Accepted Answer

MDF Laser Toning creates tiny, controlled microchannels in the skin’s surface. This process jumpstarts your skin’s natural repair response, which helps build collagen and elastin while improving skin tone and firmness over time.

The Multi-Depth Fractional (MDF) laser delivers laser energy in a focused, fractional pattern to target deeper pigmentation and refine skin tone. This creates microchannels in the skin that stimulate collagen and elastin production. No carbon mask is needed.

Question 3

Are these treatments painful?

Accepted Answer

Nope! You may feel a light, warming sensation as the laser targets the skin, but it’s comfortable and requires no numbing.

Question 4

How long does a treatment take?

Accepted Answer

Both treatments typically take about 30 minutes, making them ideal for a lunchtime refresh.

Question 5

Is there any downtime?

Accepted Answer

Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel: No downtime. Your skin may appear slightly pink immediately after, but you can return to your day right away.

MDF Laser Toning: Mild redness or erythema that typically resolves within 24 hours. Most patients return to normal activities the next day.

Question 6

How many sessions are needed for best results?

Accepted Answer

Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel: One treatment delivers an instant glow. For longer-term improvement in dullness, large pores, or uneven tone, we recommend a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced two weeks apart.

MDF Laser Toning: Best results are seen with a series of treatments. We often recommend 3 to 5 sessions for optimal pigment refinement and skin tone improvement.

Question 7

Can these treatments help with acne?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel can improve active acne by deeply cleaning the pores and reducing inflammation.

It vaporizes the carbon, taking impurities with it, while the heat energy destroys acne-causing bacteria (P. acnes), shrinks oil glands to reduce future breakouts, and calms redness and inflammation.

However, if acne is your primary concern, we recommend our Laser AcnePeel, which is specifically tailored to target breakouts and oil production.

Question 8

Are the treatments safe for dark skin tones?

Accepted Answer

Yes! The Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel is safe and effective for all skin types and tones, including melanin-rich skin.

The Hollywood Spectra device uses a Q-switched 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength, which bypasses the surface and targets deeper layers of skin without overheating melanin. This minimizes the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Unlike other lasers that rely on bulk heating, this device delivers energy in ultra-short pulses to gently shatter pigment and stimulate renewal without damaging surrounding skin.

Because it’s non-ablative and doesn’t disrupt the surface, it’s a smart choice for treating melasma, acne, and pigmentation in deeper skin tones.

Question 9

When will I see results?

Accepted Answer

You’ll see an immediate glow after this lunchtime laser treatment. After 3-5 sessions, you will begin to see longer-term improvements like reduced pigmentation, smaller pores, and smoother texture.

Question 10

What should I expect after my treatment?

Accepted Answer

Your skin may feel slightly warm or sensitive for a few hours after either treatment. Any redness typically resolves within a few hours (Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel) or by the next day (MDF Laser Toning).

Question 11

Can these treatments help with melasma?

Accepted Answer

The MDF Laser Toning Treatment is a great option for treating melasma without substantial downtime or for maintaining melasma results from more aggressive treatments.

The laser energy breaks down excess melanin while the carbon mask draws out impurities, making the skin appear brighter and more even over time.

Results are buildable, and the best results are seen with a series of 3-6 treatments and a customized skincare plan.

For advanced melasma, we may recommend starting with Fractional Skin Resurfacing to rebuild and renew the skin at a deeper level.

For advanced melasma, we typically recommend starting with Fractional Skin Resurfacing to clear pigment more efficiently, followed by periodic MDF Laser Toning for maintenance or for targeting stubborn spots.

Question 12

How long do the results last?

Accepted Answer

Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel: Results typically last 2-4 weeks. Think of it like a workout for your skin: one session gives visible results, but consistent treatments deliver lasting change.

MDF Laser Toning: Results build over time and help preserve pigment clarity between deeper resurfacing treatments.

For best results, we recommend a series of treatments followed by regular maintenance sessions every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your skin goals.

Question 13

How does the Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel compare to a Hydrafacial?

Accepted Answer

The Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel deeply exfoliates the top layer of skin while also softening and loosening impurities below the surface. We finish the treatment with the ZO No-Peel Peel to further clear congestion and refine the skin.

Unlike a Hydrafacial, which offers more of a short-term cleanup, the Carbon Laser Peel stimulates long-term collagen production while brightening and evening skin tone over time.

Question 14

Will my husband be able to tell I had a laser treatment done?

Accepted Answer

Nope, it’ll be our little secret.
