Acne treatment can become frustrating very quickly.
A new cleanser. A facial. A peel. A laser treatment. Another product recommended online.
For a few weeks, things may improve—and then the breakouts return.
At Arnprior Med Spa, we take a different approach.
Our Clear Skin Program was created for clients who want a structured, long-term plan for managing active acne, congestion and the changes acne can leave behind.
Rather than booking random treatments, clients enter a 12-month customized acne program where their skin is assessed, treated and monitored as it changes.
Because acne rarely stays exactly the same for an entire year, neither should the treatment plan.
Why We Created the Clear Skin Program
Acne is not simply a matter of having “dirty skin” or needing a stronger facial.
Breakouts can be influenced by several factors, including excess oil production, follicular congestion, inflammation, hormonal influences, skincare habits and individual skin biology.
That means two people who both describe themselves as having acne may require completely different treatment plans.
One client may have:
- active inflammatory breakouts
- significant congestion
- oily skin
- blackheads and clogged pores
Another may have very little active acne remaining but struggle with:
- persistent redness after breakouts
- brown post-acne marks
- uneven texture
- enlarged pores
- acne scarring
Treating these clients exactly the same way does not make sense.
The Clear Skin Program allows us to adjust treatment according to what the skin needs at each stage.
Step One: Understand the Skin
Every Clear Skin journey begins with an assessment.
Before deciding which treatment to perform, we want to understand:
- where breakouts are occurring
- what type of acne is present
- how frequently new lesions are developing
- current skincare products
- previous acne treatments
- skin sensitivity
- pigment concerns
- existing acne scars
- lifestyle or hormonal factors that may be relevant
We also use VISIA skin analysis and standardized photography to establish a baseline.
This gives us something extremely valuable:
A way to objectively track progress.
Acne can improve gradually, which sometimes makes it difficult to recognize how much the skin has changed.
By taking consistent photographs throughout the program, we can compare the skin over time and adjust the treatment strategy when necessary.
Step Two: Build the Home-Care Foundation
Professional treatments are only one part of acne management.
What happens to the skin during the other 29 days of the month matters just as much.
Before beginning more corrective treatments, clients are placed on an individualized ZO Skin Health regimen selected according to their skin condition, tolerance and treatment goals.
The purpose is not to give everyone the same collection of products.
Instead, home care may be designed to help address concerns such as:
- excess oil
- follicular congestion
- uneven exfoliation
- breakouts
- inflammation
- post-acne discoloration
- overall skin barrier support
Your skincare routine may also change during the program as your skin improves.
Step Three: One Customized Treatment Every Month
The Clear Skin Program includes one professional treatment each month for 12 months.
The important part is that you are not purchasing twelve identical treatments.
Each appointment is selected according to your current skin condition.
Your treatment plan may include a combination of:
HydraFacial
HydraFacial can be incorporated when the skin would benefit from professional cleansing, exfoliation and extraction of congestion.
For some acne-prone clients, this can be particularly helpful during the earlier stages of treatment when clogged pores and surface buildup are significant concerns.
Chemical Peels
Professionally selected chemical peels can be used to address congestion, uneven exfoliation, oiliness, post-acne discoloration and overall skin texture.
The type and strength of peel are chosen according to the skin rather than using the same peel for every client.
Acne-Focused Laser Treatments
Laser treatment may be incorporated when appropriate as part of the overall acne strategy.
The technology and treatment parameters selected depend on the concern we are treating.
LED Light Therapy
LED treatments may be incorporated to complement other acne treatments and support the skin during the treatment process.
Laser Resurfacing
Once active acne is adequately controlled, our focus can begin to shift.
Instead of primarily trying to prevent new breakouts, we may start addressing what previous acne has left behind.
Depending on the type and depth of scarring, treatment may involve fractional laser resurfacing or other collagen-remodelling technologies.
Active Acne Comes Before Acne Scar Correction
This is one of the most important principles behind our program.
If someone is continuing to develop significant new acne every month, aggressively resurfacing existing scars may not be the first priority.
New breakouts can continue creating new discoloration and potentially new scars.
Our initial goal is therefore often:
Control the active acne first.
Once the skin becomes more stable, we can increasingly focus on:
- red post-acne marks
- brown post-inflammatory pigmentation
- enlarged pores
- uneven texture
- rolling scars
- boxcar scars
- other atrophic acne scars
This is where having access to several different technologies becomes valuable.
There is no single “acne scar laser” that is ideal for every scar.
Treatment is selected according to what type of scar or residual mark we are actually seeing.
The Program Changes as Your Skin Changes
A typical Clear Skin journey might look something like:
Months 1–3
Assess + Stabilize
VISIA analysis
Customized ZO Skin Health regimen
Congestion management
HydraFacial / chemical peel / acne-focused treatments as appropriate
Months 4–6
Control + Correct
Continue reducing active breakouts
Address persistent congestion
Begin treating residual redness or pigmentation when appropriate
Reassess progress through standardized photography
Months 7–9
Texture + Scar Correction
For clients whose active acne is adequately controlled, treatment may begin transitioning toward fractional resurfacing and scar correction.
Months 10–12
Refine + Maintain
Continue correcting remaining concerns
Evaluate long-term skincare needs
Develop a maintenance strategy designed to help preserve progress
This is only an example.
Some clients will move through these stages faster. Others may require more time controlling active acne before moving into scar correction.
The treatment follows the skin—not a predetermined calendar.
Clear Skin Program for Teens + Young Adults
Acne can have an enormous impact during the teenage and young-adult years.
It is also a time when skincare can become unnecessarily complicated very quickly.
Social media makes it easy to end up using:
a strong acne cleanser
plus an exfoliating toner
plus acids
plus retinol
plus spot treatments
plus whatever product happens to be trending that week.
More treatment is not always better.
For younger clients, one of our goals is to create a routine that is structured, understandable and realistic enough to actually follow consistently.
Parents are welcome to be involved in the consultation and education process when appropriate.
When acne is severe, rapidly worsening, cystic, potentially scarring or requires medical management beyond our scope, we may also recommend assessment by an appropriate physician or dermatology provider.
Why We Track Your Progress
One of the features we value most in the Clear Skin Program is VISIA imaging and standardized progress photography.
We don’t want treatment decisions to be based entirely on memory.
We want to be able to look back and ask:
Are there fewer active breakouts?
Has congestion improved?
Is redness decreasing?
Are post-acne marks fading?
Has texture improved?
Is the current treatment strategy working?
If the answer is no, the plan should change.
That is the advantage of treating acne as an ongoing program rather than twelve unrelated appointments.
What Makes the Clear Skin Program Different?
The Clear Skin Program is not built around one machine, one facial or one product.
It is built around a process:
Assess
Understand what is happening in the skin.
Prepare
Create an appropriate home-care foundation.
Control
Reduce active breakouts and congestion.
Correct
Address pigmentation, redness, texture and acne scarring.
Measure
Use VISIA and standardized photography to monitor progress.
Adjust
Change the treatment strategy as the skin changes.
Maintain
Develop a long-term strategy after the initial 12-month program.
Start With a Comprehensive Skin Consultation
If you have been moving from treatment to treatment without a clear plan, the first step is not choosing another procedure.
It is understanding your skin.
Every Clear Skin Program begins with a Comprehensive Skin Consultation at Arnprior Med Spa, where we assess your acne, review your current skincare and create the first stage of your treatment plan.
Clearer skin is rarely the result of one perfect treatment.
It is usually the result of doing the right things, in the right order, consistently.
