Straight From Chicago: What I Learned at ZO Skin Health’s Advanced Training with Dr. Zein Obagi
This July, I packed my bags and headed to Chicago for something I’d been looking forward to for a long time: an advanced training with ZO Skin Health, led directly under the guidance of Dr. Zein Obagi — the dermatologist behind the skin health philosophy that shapes everything we do here at Arnprior Med Spa.
If you’ve been to the clinic, you’ve probably heard me talk about “skin health” more than any single treatment. This trip is exactly why.
Why This Training Mattered
As a nurse-led clinic, staying current isn’t optional — it’s the whole point. Techniques, protocols, and product science evolve constantly, and the only way to keep offering real, evidence-based results is to keep learning directly from the source. Dr. Obagi’s philosophy is the foundation of how I approach skin health with every client, so training directly under that framework was an easy yes.
The days were long and intensive, covering advanced resurfacing protocols, refined technique adjustments, and a deeper dive into the fundamentals that make the ZO Skin Health system work the way it does — not just what to do, but why it works at a cellular level.
What This Means for You
Training like this isn’t just professional development — it directly shapes what happens in the treatment room. A few ways this will show up for Arnprior and Ottawa Valley clients:
- Refined resurfacing protocols — small adjustments to technique that can mean better results with less irritation
- A deeper, more precise approach to skin health fundamentals — not guesswork, but protocols grounded in Dr. Obagi’s original research and clinical experience
- Continued confidence that your treatment plan is built on current, evidence-based practice — not what was standard five years ago, but what’s proven to work now
The Bigger Picture
I built this clinic around the belief that healthy skin is the foundation of every result — not injectables, not lasers alone, but the health of the skin itself. Getting to train directly under the person who helped define that philosophy is the kind of experience that reminds me why I do this work.
I’m already looking forward to bringing these refinements into consultations and treatment plans here in Arnprior. If you’ve been curious about where to start with your own skin health journey, this is a great time to book a consultation — I’d love to walk you through what’s changed and what it could mean for your skin.
